Typical Thursday...

I haven't been taking nearly as many photos as I should be. I've gotten very lazy about grabbing the camera. I also tend to rely on the camera on my iPhone more than I should. It takes pretty decent photos outside and in good lighting, but it's really not the best camera to be preserving memories. So, this morning, when we had a baby bird in our front yard,  I grabbed the "real" camera and snapped a few pictures.

When we walked out onto our sidewalk we heard quite a bit of noisy squawking going on. There was a small baby bird on the ground and a couple of larger (mommy & daddy birds?!) hovering in the Bradford Pear tree above us.

We watched for a while as the momma bird would land in our neighbors yard and very cautiously walk over to within a few feet of the baby bird. She would squawk at the baby and try to coax it to fly and then she would demonstrate that skill.

After a while the baby finally flew a few feet off of the ground, then a few more feet, and finally flew far enough to make it back into the large bush where we think they must have a nest. It was fascinating to watch this display of God's beautiful winged creatures, knowing that He created in them the very instincts that make them push their little ones out of the nest and teach them to fly.

Luci got her binoculars and watched the bush from afar as the birds fluttered about in and out of the branches.

Here are a few other random shots from this Typical Thursday...

Luci's been spending a lot of time in her room today! I think she's enjoying how clean it is :)

Gavin's Facebooking, or playing with iTunes, or playing MindCraft, or something...

I just love how this picture of Ben turned out! You can see his reflection in the waxed surface of the truck :) This one just loves working with his dad lately, even when it means getting hot and sweaty! He's a great helper!
