Links Every Homeschooler Should Have

Homeschooling in the modern era is made infinitely more convenient by the availability of information, help, interactive games, and other various resources on the internet. Can you imagine homeschooling without the use of the internet? I sure can't!

Here are a few links I think every homeschooler should have bookmarked or pinned (many are great for non-homeschoolers as well!).

Xtramath.com is a website that provides kids with an opportunity to practice math facts while avoiding those pesky (and boring) flashcards. Kids are evaluated in the four operations and then they start the program at a level customized for them. The best part: It's FREE!

Learn spelling and vocabulary

If your kids need a little extra practice with spelling words, and the idea of copying their spelling words another ten times each sends them screaming from the room, Spellingcity.com is the perfect website for you! You can create a spelling list, or use one of their lists, and then your kids can play games with their spelling words. Interacting with their words in this way gives lots of practice and is still fun.

Need help explaining unit-multipliers? pythagorean theorum? free radical reactions? Chinese inflation? the Electoral College? Check out KahnAcademy.org where you and your child can watch a video on virtually anything.

This is for my Mississippi friends... RiseupMS.com is a website dedicated to college bound students in the state of Mississippi. The goal is to help with issues such as high school transcripts, choosing a college, financial aid, and more. If your in the state of MS and have a high schooler or a soon-to-be high schooler, you'll definitely want this in your arsenal of college-ready materials.

HSLDA.org is an organization created to protect the rights of homeschoolers in the United States. Member benefits include, among other things, legal representation in the event that your rights as a homeschooler are ever questioned. If the yearly membership fee is too much for your family to handle at once, HSLDA offers a convenient monthly payment plan.

If you have any valuable links to add to this list please feel free to leave them in the comments section! I'd love to have more great links to add to my collection!

  1. Kahn academy is really, really great!! We used it to get a crash course on division this year because he wanted to know how to do division but we haven't really started it with our math curriculum yet.
